The practice
Matter in Motion is a choreographic and movement practice that cultivates expanded ways of sensing, imagining and relating through the body. Developed through over six years of artistic research, it draws together somatic practices, speculative imagination, ecological observation and improvisation to invite participants beyond habitual ways of moving and perceiving. Rather than reproducing movement forms, the practice approaches movement as a way of researching experience: awakening the senses, deepening attention, and exploring how bodies continuously emerge through their relationships with places, materials and other beings.

Methods & Principles
Matter in Motion unfolds through a series of embodied propositions that shift perception and generate movement from lived experience rather than predetermined technique. Participants move through sensorial awareness, breath, voice, touch and imagination; embody fictional and more-than-human beings; respond to sites and environments through careful observation; and explore altered states of attention, including movement in complete darkness.
Across these approaches, Matter in Motion investigates movement as energy, relation and transformation, allowing new physical vocabularies to emerge through curiosity, play, surrender and care. Recurring principles offer different entry points into questions of interdependence, embodiment and the cycles of living matter. These include The Breathwave, Hyphae Search, Tensegrity, The Grotesques, Petrification, Decomposition, and Embodied Fabulation.

Workshop & Training
Matter in Motion is shared through workshops, professional training and creative laboratories with dancers, performers, actors, students and people with no previous movement experience. Each workshop is adapted to its participants and context, creating an inclusive environment where embodied knowledge, imagination and experimentation are equally valued. Whether entering the practice as an artist seeking new choreographic tools or simply through a curiosity to reconnect with the body, participants are invited into a space of collective enquiry where movement becomes a way of listening, creating and relating differently to themselves, others and the more-than-human world.
