MORPHOSIS

MORPHOSIS is a site-specific performance unfolding in landscapes undergoing urban transformation, where human development encroaches upon existing habitats and reshapes the lives within them. Moving through the changing site, the performance traces the relationships between humans, non-human life, materials, and the forces of urbanisation. What lives are favoured in such processes? Which habitats are destroyed, which are constructed, and what stories are carried within the land as it changes?

Through choreography, poetic text, and guided walks across the site, MORPHOSIS shifts attention towards forms of movement and performativity that might otherwise go unnoticed: distant, small, material, human, and more-than-human. Performers appear and disappear across the landscape, while the audience moves between different viewpoints and distances, gradually developing new relationships with the site and its inhabitants.

The work explores how attention can stretch across space and time, connecting us to lives, objects, and stories beyond our immediate perception. As the landscape becomes a choreography of transformation, MORPHOSIS asks what invisible relationships bind us to places undergoing change, and how our own movements, choices, and histories are entangled within processes of urban expansion.
