SCINTILLAE

SCINTILLAE is an experimental performance exploring the nuances of darkness and its effects on the body, perception, and imagination. Unfolding in darkness and very low levels of light, the work creates a shifting landscape between the known and unknown, reality and fantasy, sensation and thought. As familiar points of reference disappear, other senses become heightened and new connections begin to emerge.

Through choreography, sound, voice, and subtle shifts in light, SCINTILLAE evokes a world of primordial organisms, living cells, mythical beings, and otherworldly forms in constant metamorphosis. Images, sounds, and words ripple between the inner and outer landscapes, awakening fragments of memory, unconscious storylines, and imagined worlds. What begins as an encounter with the unknown gradually becomes a journey into the possibilities of one’s own perception.

At the heart of SCINTILLAE lies the human capacity for imagination: our impulse to create stories, find meaning, and make sense of what we cannot see. The performance cultivates a space of ambiguity where explanations remain uncertain and imagination becomes an active force. By surrendering, even briefly, to what cannot be fully perceived or understood, SCINTILLAE opens a space to imagine other ways of sensing, relating, and being in the world.
